Interactive Whiteboards can cost upwards of $2,000 – $3,000. Luckily there is a cheap and easy way to create your own interactive whiteboard!
Researcher Johnny Lee shows us how to make some simple Wii Remote hacks — bending the low-cost, $40, videogame controllers to power an interactive whiteboard and a multitouch surface. Since the Wiimote can track sources of infrared (IR) light, you can track pens that have an IR led in the tip. By pointing a wiimote at a projection screen or LCD display, you can create very low-cost interactive whiteboards or tablet displays. Since the Wiimote can track up to 4 points, up to 4 pens can be used. It also works great with rear-projected displays.
For someone looking for creative presentation tools and platforms to give their their next presentation an edge this is perfect!
The Wiimote can also be used to turn your computer screen into a touch display. And don’t worry about blocking your audience’s view of the presentation while you write they can see your presentation on their tablet, ipad, or laptop through Smoothboard Air. Smoothboard Air has a wiimote whiteboard download that will bring the two together for that perfect presentation.
